Students and staff at Carlton Bolling are already feeling the benefits of an exciting new addition to the school site, as a brand-new, state-of-the-art fitness centre officially opened at the end of January.
The impressive facility has been designed to enhance both physical education and overall wellbeing, providing a modern, inspiring space for students to develop their fitness, strength and confidence. Equipped with a wide range of high-quality gym equipment, the centre includes a fully fitted weights room, sled push track, treadmills, rowing machines and other specialist training equipment.
Since opening, Year 10 and 11 students have been making the most of the new space, taking part in structured lessons and developing their understanding of fitness training in a hands-on environment. The response so far has been extremely positive, with students embracing the opportunity to train using professional-standard equipment.
From September 2026, the fitness centre will be fully embedded into the PE curriculum, allowing even more students across the school to benefit from regular access as part of their timetabled lessons. This marks an exciting step forward in broadening the PE offer and supporting students to lead healthy, active lifestyles.
The facility is also proving popular with staff, who have been using the space before the school day begins as part of their own wellbeing routines. This shared use reflects the school’s commitment to promoting health and wellbeing across the whole community.
Paul Brennan, Director of Sport and Performance at Carlton Bolling, said:
“This is an incredible facility that enhances our provision and will allow us to meet the needs of all of our students. We have used the fitness centre with our key stage 4 students who have loved being there and following a structured training programme. We are very excited about teaching all of our students in this facility from September 2026 through a variety of structured fitness lessons.
We have recently opened the space for an after school fitness club, which has already proved extremely popular, with a growing waiting list of students keen to take part. It is fantastic to see so many of our students actively choosing to lead healthy, active lifestyles.”
This impressive new addition to the school represents further significant investment in student experience, and continued commitment to providing opportunities that will support both physical development and lifelong fitness habits for years to come.
That’s great and all, and we commend you for pushing through with it. Unfortunately we no longer offer support for IE; it hasn’t received a major update since 2015 and Microsoft are dropping support for it later in the year.
