Carlton Bolling has become the first school in West Yorkshire to be recognised with the RE:SET Healthy Relationship Champion Setting Award!
Staff and students marked the achievement at a special celebration event on Wednesday, April 24th, joined by Tender Ambassador Amy-Leigh Hickman, star of Netflix’s You and Channel 4’s Ackley Bridge.
Active in more than 65 UK schools, Tender’s Relationship Education Schools Equality Toolkit (RE:SET) is a long term, whole school programme which supports schools to embed positive attitudes and behaviours based on equality and compassion that do not tolerate misogyny or abuse. Working alongside their Tender Mentor, the charity said that “Carlton Bolling have effectively engaged staff, students and parents/carers to achieve sustainable change”.
Headteacher Mohammed Azum said: “The RE:SET Programme has exceeded expectations. The framework for measurement has been useful but I have been particularly impressed by how powerful the work with the young ambassadors has been.
“They have been empowered to stand up against misogyny and become champions for equality. It has been life-changing, we are setting children up to become model citizens.”
Amy-Leigh said: “I’m thrilled to join Carlton Bolling to celebrate this remarkable achievement.
“Preventing domestic abuse and sexual violence can seem an insurmountable task, yet working with Tender, I’ve seen how drama and creativity can make a real difference.
“I want to congratulate Carlton Bolling for their effort and dedication to this cause, and the positive impact it’s had on their school and beyond.”
