Three Carlton Bolling students are taking on an exciting new role in their local community after joining the Board of Trustees at Community Works as Young People’s Representatives.
Community Works is a community centre that supports local families and provides opportunities for people in the area. Through the new partnership with Carlton Bolling, our students will have the chance to share their ideas and experiences and help shape future projects and services.
The students will attend board meetings and have the opportunity to make sure young people’s views are heard when decisions are being made.
As well as having a say in what happens at Community Works, the role will give the students valuable experience of leadership, teamwork and being part of a board.
For Year 11 student Zara, becoming a Young People’s Representative is particularly meaningful. Zara has been part of Community Works since she was six years old, and her family has benefited from the support and opportunities offered by the centre.
Zara said:
“Community Works has been a part of my life since I was six years old. My family and I have benefited from the support and opportunities it provides, and it has always been a welcoming place for us.
I am really excited to become a young people’s representative because it gives me the chance to support others in the same way that my family was supported. Having a voice on the board means I can help make sure young people are heard and that the centre continues to make a positive difference in our community.”
Mohammed Azum, Head of School at Carlton Bolling, said:
“This partnership is a natural extension of the outreach work we already do across our community. By working closely with Community Works and giving our students a voice as trustees, we can strengthen the support available to local families while ensuring young people help shape the services and opportunities that matter most to them. We are excited about the positive impact this will have across our community.”
Vikrant Bhatia, CEO of Community Works, said:
“Community Works is delighted to welcome students from Carlton Bolling to our board as Young People’s Representatives. We are excited to work closely with the school to create meaningful opportunities for local young people and ensure their voices help shape the future of our community.”
By taking their place on the Community Works Board, our students are getting the chance to use their voices, share their ideas and help shape the community around them. We’re excited to see what they bring to their new roles and the positive difference they can make for other young people and families.
That’s great and all, and we commend you for pushing through with it. Unfortunately we no longer offer support for IE; it hasn’t received a major update since 2015 and Microsoft are dropping support for it later in the year.
