Carlton Bolling Recognised for Low Suspension Rates in Schools Week

29 November 2024

This week, Schools Week featured an article highlighting the record rise in school suspensions across England. Carlton Bolling proudly contributed, showcasing how the school has managed to maintain impressively low suspension numbers despite being located in an area with high levels of organised crime and deprivation.

Mr. Mezal, Assistant Head, and Mr. Ingham, Deputy Head for Behaviour, shared insights into the school’s approach. They attributed the success to strategic investments in behaviour teams, with two non-teaching specialists assigned to each year group to support teachers. They also emphasised the school’s decision to avoid a blanket approach to sanctions, opting instead for tailored solutions that meet the needs of individual students.

Mohammed Azum, Head of School, commented: “It’s fantastic to see our school culture and the processes we have in place around behaviour management being recognised. Special thanks go to both Mr. Ingham and Mr. Mezal for their brilliant impact in this area.”

Hey there, couldn’t help noticing you’re using Internet Explorer

That’s great and all, and we commend you for pushing through with it. Unfortunately we no longer offer support for IE; it hasn’t received a major update since 2015 and Microsoft are dropping support for it later in the year.

If you’re using Windows 10 and want to stick with a built in browser, please consider switching to Edge. Or, if you really want to enjoy the internet properly we strongly recommend downloading Google Chrome here.
